I know you have all seen and heard those commercials for sites like match.com, pof.com, e-harmony.com and many more. Before you get all hot under the collar I'm not calling these things bad but I am being honest.

While I was in college I tried some of these dating sites. I was bored and kind of lonely so I figured why not. The first thing I noticed was the unbearable amount of horn dogs on each site. Each one just wanting a hook up, asking what my bra size was and if they didn't like my answers to their questions that was it. Not even a chance to actually talk. This went on for quite a while but I didn't give hope. I finally met two what I thought were decent enough guys.

Date #1: Went like this. We met on a footbridge and he walked with me to Albertsons so I could buy batteries for a Furby I had just received. He then told me he was homeless and was looking for a place to live. Nope.

Date #2: He was also a college student studying music. We talked a lot online and through text to the point where I was comfortable enough to invite him over. He came to my dorm room and sat on my bed as I sat at my desk. It was awkward and uncomfortable. I eventually had him leave by telling him I had to work on a paper which wasn't a lie. Not 5 min later he texted me and started talking about how nice it was to have a girlfriend. What? We had just met. Nope.

So I've had some relatively bad experience with online dating but I also know a lot of people that have met the loves of their lives on there.

I did meet a guy on Facebook though. He was nice, we had a lot in common, we were living in the same small town and it was great. Sure, he was 10 years older than I was at the time and sure he still lived with his mom but I was 19. We started dating the summer before I started college and then part of my freshman year. We'd Facebook, text and talk on the phone everyday. He made me feel special. He made me feel loved. But then he got jealous. We were 400 some miles apart and he thought he could tell me who I could be friends with. That didn't fly. We tried talking it out but in the end it didn't work.

But I didn't find myself another winner on Facebook. So, I guess you could say I found love on the internet and not the old fashion way.
